Optimized for Growth: How Anticimex Scales Up and Down Without Overhead Costs

Case summary

Anticimex, a global leader in preventive pest control, partnered with Agisko to modernize its IT infrastructure and support rapid business growth.

By adopting Nutanix as a Service (NaaS), Anticimex moved from a monolithic setup to a flexible, hybrid-ready infrastructure. The new solution boosts scalability, security, and cost-efficiency—laying the groundwork for a smooth future migration to Azure.

Background

Anticimex is a global leader in pest control. The company is leading the shift from reactive to preventive pest management with innovative digital and eco-friendly solutions.

With extensive expertise in biology and years of service experience, Anticimex leverages its SMART digital platform. The goal is to create healthier environments for both commercial and residential customers worldwide.

Anticimex actively contributes to a more sustainable world by safeguarding natural habitats. It also reduces pest-related health risks and prevents food and property damage.

The challenge: aligning company growth with IT infrastructure

As a fast growing company, Anticimex faced increasing complexity in managing its IT infrastructure. Over the years, the company had relied on a single partner for all its IT needs, with a centralized data center.

The company is growing quickly. Consequently, they needed a better IT solution offering flexibility, security and room for growth. Some of the key pain points included:

Monolithic IT infrastructure

Previously all computing storage, security, and networking were tightly integrated under a single provider. While this setup provided a unified system, it also lacked flexibility, making it hard to scale and adapt.

Hybrid cloud transition

Anticimex had a desire to move toward a hybrid cloud model while maintaining control over legacy applications.

Dividing IT responsibilities

The company needed to split IT responsibilities among expert partners for computing, security, and connectivity.

Improved data security

Anticimex's previous backup solutions had some issues, including inconsistent performance, limited monitoring, and insufficient measures to fully ensure security and application availability. Addressing these gaps was crucial for enhancing data protection and maintaining reliable system performance.

As such, Anticimex needed a partner to deliver scalable and cloud-ready IT infrastructure. The solution had to provide the flexibility to scale up and down effortlessly, without incurring unnecessary overhead costs.

Why Nutanix as a Service (NaaS)?

Anticimex started exploring multiple options to accommodate their IT needs. These included solutions and proposals from classical providers, fully cloud-based approaches, and our Nutanix as a Service (Naas).

After careful evaluation, the team went with Agisko for several key reasons:

1. Easy to scale and cost efficient

Opposite traditional data center models, NaaS allows Anticimex to pay only for what they use, reducing extra capacity costs. The model also provides the flexibility to scale up quickly in line with their rapid growth.

2. Preparing for hybrid cloud

While Anticimex wants to modernize its infrastructure, it is not yet ready for a full migration to Azure. With NaaS, they can continue working on our infrastructure and shift to Azure seamlessly when the time is right.

3. Reliable and secure

Our NaaS offering provides a robust backup solution with encrypted backups stored in separate locations. This addresses one of the critical gaps in Anticimex's previous setup.

4. Specialized expertise and collaboration

Wim Vandenberghe, IT Director at Anticimex says,

"During the technical discussions, Agisko demonstrated a strong understanding of our requirements. Their presales expertise ensure that the solution aligned perfectly with what we needed."

Implementing NaaS with Agisko

The move towards Nutanix as a Service began in May-June 2024, with a go-live target in September 2024. The key elements of this new NaaS implementation included:

Decentralized IT approach

Anticimex has moved away from a single IT-partner to a multi-expert model. Now, specialized partners handle computing, security, and connectivity, where Agisko is taking care of the computing part.

Hybrid cloud infrastructure

The new design supports both on-premises and cloud environments, enabling Anticimex to shift workloads to Azure when needed.

Enhanced backup strategy

By moving encrypted backups outside Anticimex's primary data center, the company has significantly improved its data security.

Operational efficiency

Anticimex’s internal IT team handles first-line support. Meanwhile, we provide assistance for more complex issues or major infrastructure changes.

Till now, the collaboration between Anticimex and Agisko has proven effective. Thanks to strong communication and proactive issue resolution, the project remains on track.

The Results: A Future-Proof IT Infrastructure

By implementing Nutanix as a Service with us, Anticimex has achieved several tangible benefits:

  • Increased flexibility: The company can scale its infrastructure effortlessly to support ongoing mergers and acquisitions.

  • Optimized costs: The pay-as-you-go model ensures no unnecessary IT expenses.

  • Seamless transition to cloud: Anticimex is now fully prepared to migrate to Azure or another cloud platform when needed.

  • Improved security: The new encrypted backup solution ensures critical data protection.

Currently, Anticimex operates in a hybrid model where applications and storage run smoothly on our infrastructure. This allows for easy scalability into the cloud.

What's next? Moving to Azure

Fast-forward, Anticimex plans to migrate its ERP system to Business Central, an Azure-based application. To make this transition easier, they're leveraging the cost-efficiency of Nutanix as a in-between step.

Building on a strong partnership, Anticimex is extending its collaboration with Agisko for five more years. This ensures their IT infrastructure remains flexible and ready to support future business needs."

In closing

Anticimex’s partnership with Agisko has transformed its IT landscape, ensuring the agility needed for continuous growth. With Nutanix as a Service, the company now benefits from a scalable, cost-effective, and secure solution. This allows Anticimex to concentrate on its core business while staying fully prepared for a cloud-first future.
